A Long Obedience
We're over halfway through Lent. Lent is a long season - 40 days. Forty days to ponder in a focused way what Jesus' death on the cross means. Forty days to think in a focused way about how Jesus' death on my the cross is the defining moment in history. It is, isn't it?Think about it for a moment. Because Jesus died on the cross we have hope for a better future - all things being made new! Because Jesus died on the cross we know God will bring justice and right all the wrongs - evil will not win. Because Jesus died on the cross we are assured that God can use the bad things in the world to bring about our good and His glory. Because Jesus died on the cross I know that I have value and that I don't have to prove or justify myself.I've just scratched the surface. No wonder the Bible says that "angels long to look into these things." Angels, who have never sinned and have no need of forgiveness, stand in awe of what God has done for his broken people! Do you? Do you stand amazed that God could love you? Are you still lost in wonder that a sinless God would become sin for you?If not, Lent is a perfect time to spend a lot of time under the shadow of the cross! We'll talk more Sunday as we stand amazed in Jesus' presence.Blessings.Jim
