Jesus and Future Glory

I tend to think in story. I need a narrative so that I can see the beginning, middle, and the end. It is in story that we find meaning. That is why this Advent Season we have looked with a wide angle lense at the whole story of Jesus, which stretches from eternity to eternity. I think I told you that unless we dig around for the story of Jesus before there was time, creation would not make as much sense. This week I am telling you that if you know the end of the story of Jesus, it will have a profound impact on your life right now!
One of the pictures I love of Jesus in the future is that he is the founder and host of the great feast! Yes, it is hard to believe that one of the pictures we see of Jesus is him hosting all his people at a grand wedding feast. I know that doesn't sound very spiritual for some of you, yet when I see that, it infests my imagination about, not just how great the future will be, but it informs my life of feasting now!
Speaking of feasting, this Sunday at St. Patrick is a feast! A feast of music and celebration in worship and a literal feast after worship. If heaven is one eternal party and celebration, it is only right that like ancient Israel we set aside times to hallow our joy in good food and drink. I hope to see you this Sunday as it is a high feast day as we are on the eve of the Feast of the Nativity of Jesus. So join us and bring a friend.
Blessings,

Jim
