If God is gracious, then I don’t have to prove myself

There are so many Christians walking in bondage, and they can’t figure out how to get to the bottom of their spiritual malaise.  Maybe you are there right now. Well, I can give you a spiritual diagnostic tool to help you. If you are:

·       Anxious·       Fearful·       Joyless·       Discontented with your life·       In a sin you can’t get out of

These are indicators that you are believing some lie about yourself, about reality, or about God.  You are now a slave and in bondage; the very opposite of the freedom Jesus promises us in the gospel.  This is why you preach the gospel to your heart and ask, “What lie am I believing and what truth do I need to turn to?”  This Sunday we are looking at a deep gospel truth that will help you with the sin: “If God is gracious, then I don’t have to prove myself.” 

 

I do think the biggest problem believers have, is that we are continually defaulting back into trying to prove ourselves to God. This always spells disaster.  This Sunday we will talk about it.
