The Economics of Generosity
Generosity--even when you really love the person you're wanting to exercise generosity toward--can be difficult. Very difficult. There are many surface reasons for this, but they really all come down to one question: who will we trust? If we believe what Jesus says about the economics of generosity--"It is more blessed to give than to receive"--it will lead to one sort of life; a life of joy, hope, and peace. If we believe what the world tells us--get all you can for yourself, and only "look out for Number 1"--well, that leads to another sort of life, a life none of us want, but that we all experience far too often. So, is there any way of breaking this vicious cycle? Does Jesus really mean what he says? In short: yes there is, and yes he does. Sunday, we'll find out just what generosity does, not only in the lives of others, but in our own as well. And what it does is really, really good. Can't wait to talk with you about it on Sunday!Grace & Peace,Brian
